As an intern in the Communication Office at Veolia, I had the opportunity to face the diverse challenges of working within a large multinational corporation. Collaborating with colleagues from various backgrounds, I contributed to corporate communication efforts while ensuring that all projects adhered to the company’s branding guidelines.
My role involved transforming my colleagues’ ideas into visually compelling designs, often requiring me to grasp technical concepts to create effective, tailored solutions. One of my first major projects was the design of Veolia’s stand at the Key Energy 24 trade fair, an event focused on energy—the company’s primary business sector in Italy. I was responsible for designing the graphics for thematic sections of the stand, providing input on the overall design, and creating print materials like the workshop program and social media posts that aligned with the event’s branding.
My work was split between print and digital media, covering a range of formats.
I created newsletters, LinkedIn posts, website content, and intranet materials,
while also producing printed items such as internal communication posters,
corporate event collateral, roll-ups, leaflets, and even a compliance rule handbook/calendar.
I particularly enjoyed capturing photos and videos for internal communication, events, and site visits.
These tasks allowed me to combine my love for photography with my professional role.
Beyond refining my technical design skills, my internship at Veolia taught me valuable lessons in corporate communication, client and supplier management, and multitasking across multiple projects. I also gained experience collaborating with external design studios on larger, outsourced projects, giving me a strong foundation for working in and with major corporations like Veolia.
